(arashi) 5 things aiba notices about matsujun; aiba/jun
five things aiba notices and remembers about jun through the years
(arashi) 789 wds. pg; rpf — aiba/jun.
this is why aiba never hesitates to pick jun during a no arashi segments.

s. aiba's always been perceptive, but a little slow, if that's at all possible.
a/n. written for the 2-hour fic batsu game between me and partypaprika; the loser was going to publicly declare love for akame, of all things. thankfully, we both beat the deadline. [1] this turned to be a somewhat fleshed out version of this, err, mixed with this.
d. © aiba masaki, matsumoto jun, johnny's jimusho? this is fictional and none of it really happened (or at least not the way i wrote it).

- – —

1 · He remembers the first time he meets Matsujun, the runt with the round face, who was so small that he once thought that if brought to an amusement park, the kid probably couldn't even get on a roller coaster. They're together for so many projects that he doesn't even realise Jun's features change. Before he knew it the other boy was almost as tall as him, and chibi jokes just didn't work anymore.

By the time they debut together, Jun's rather gawky looking and everyone teases him about being turtle-like (Nino even gives Jun turtles for his birthday), but Aiba thinks he reminds him more of a chicken.

2 · Aiba thinks about when his stupid scandal broke out — the president calls for him in the middle of voice lessons, and he knows he's in for it. He looked around the room, and caught a glimpse of Jun's worried face, whose features quickly changed, and flashes a smile at him, as if trying to encourage him. He remembers smiling back a little, as if trying to encourage himself before bravely marching to the president's office.

Aiba remembers thinking what Jun would do if he were caught in the same situation he was. But he's always noticed that Jun, despite all smiles, has always been serious in everything he does, and would never let himself be caught in situations like that. He's always thought that was one of Matsujun's good points, that he thinks things over seriously and carefully.

3 · Aiba's always noticed that Jun has always put Arashi before everything else, and he says so in his letter to them on national TV. He wants to make sure that Jun knows that the rest of them has noticed it, his love, and that it's appreciated. He's crying as he reads his letter, and the rest of Arashi is either doing the same or at least trying to hold back tears.

As they move to the stage to perform, Jun puts his arms around him, and Aiba still can't stop crying. He feels a strange, awkward comfort in Jun's arms though, and he thinks that he really really is grateful for Jun and the rest of his bandmates. He's really glad to be in Arashi.

4 · Aiba remembers what a dork Jun used to be when they were younger, and realises that he's changed so much through the years. Jun laughs and acts like he has no choice when they do dorky things on their shows, but Aiba knows better. Jun has always been a curious dork, and he might pretend to change and act all cool now, but Aiba know beneath that he enjoys doing ridiculous things with them. After all, didn't Jun surprise them by voting to do the air guitar thing back during the G no Arashi days?

This is why Aiba never hesitates to pick Jun during A no Arashi segments. He likes seeing Jun laughing, and grinning that lopsided grin of his. Jun always hits him when he makes idiotic remarks, but it never really hurts anyway. He knows Jun does it out of fondness, and Aiba just likes seeing Jun enjoy himself.

5 · Aiba notices little things, but sometimes he doesn't get the complete point until after a long while. The first time they do the oshiete segment on Shukudai-kun, their staff produces a letter from an IT guy with a girlfriend of five years who he wants to marry.

When Jun walks up the confession pedestal, everyone teases him about giving a heart felt confession, and Jun, serious, as usual, retorts that his confession isn't anything extravagant, but something really simple. Aiba doesn't know why, but he notices that his heart is beating faster than usual.

Aiba only notices that he was holding his breath when Jun finishes his so-called confession with 'so won't you marry me, and cook for me?' and everyone in the audience is gushing and it isn't really a surprise that Jun gets a rating of 50 out of 50.

Everyone's teasing Jun, so he joins in with 'oi! Is that from experience?!' but he feels that he's probably blushing a deep shade of pink, and he can't explain to himself why.

Then again, Aiba's always been perceptive, but still a little slow, if that's at all possible.

MUCH LATER; [2]

They go out drinking, and Aiba remembers an interview where Jun was asked when he thinks it's time to go home when out. He remembers Jun saying: "Oh it's when Aiba says it's time to go home, then it's time to go home, ne?"

This time isn't much different, as it's almost morning, and they're still out, except it's Matsujun tugging on his sleeve: "Oi Aiba-chan, let's go home."

He smiles at Matsujun, "Okay, let's go back home."

[1] the rules were that the fic had to be written between a two-hour time frame, had to be between 700 to 1000 words, and had to include at least one of: voice lessons, notebook, park; and one of: someone getting caught doing something they're not supposed to and the color pink. (go ahead and try spotting the ninja appearances of the prompts, lol.)

[2] um, cheated and kind of added this after the challenge was finished for the sake of, um, slight closure.

eta partypaprika came up with First Measure (Ryo/Ueda).

Ok I'm so late to commenting on this, but once again I want to say that this is really awesome and makes me all *__________* happy. I love the ending and how it's vague, but in a really aiba/jun adorable way. <3

I don't think I know how to properly close a story. Now you know why I preferred the vague ending, haha. ♥
